Milke Danda is a long, high ridge that stretches between the Arun and Tamur rivers in Eastern Nepal. It is most famous for its incredible diversity of rhododendrons, blooming in a riot of colors during the spring.
Highlights of the Trek
- Rhododendron Forests: Walk through some of the densest rhododendron forests in the world, with over 30 species found in the region.
- Mountain Panoramas: Enjoy simultaneous views of three of the world's five highest peaks: Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, and Mt. Kanchenjunga.
- High Ridge Trekking: The trail follows the ridge line, providing constant views and a sense of walking in the sky.
- Eastern Culture: Experience the unique cultures of the Rai and Limbu people who call this region home.
A Spring Paradise
While the views are great year-round, the Milke Danda Trek is truly spectacular in March and April when the rhododendrons are in full bloom. The ridge offers a relatively gentle trekking experience compared to the high-pass circuits, but with some of the best mountain views in the country.
